About the project
What's Your Story ?
Artie Shaw Jr. , certified project manager, actor, writer, and director. Approached the narrative from a place most overlook, grounding the story in structure and lived experience. Christine Shaw, Director of Photography, project manager, and editor, carried the emotional current of the piece, her perspective welcoming viewers into the story rather than simply showing it to them. Karl Bigby, known as Karl Flacko, Director of Photography, cinematographer, and location specialist, delivered a visual point of view which many DP's can relate with.
Behind the Story
An experience is always beautiful to have and witness.
Time was the real variable on this production. As both director and DP, I was simultaneously behind the camera and in front of it , which meant every decision carried double the weight. With one of our talents on a tight schedule due to a prior engagement, we couldn't afford to chase every shot on the list.
The defining call on this project was prioritization. Rather than forcing the full shot list into a shrinking window, we identified the shots that carried the story and committed to those. Not every desired angle made it in but everything that needed to be there was.
Sometimes the best directing decision is knowing what to let go.
